This year scientists (دانشمند) discovered 1,284 new planets (سیاره)! Scientists are finding (find: یافتن) more and more planets because of a special telescope (تلسکوپ).

It is called the Kepler Space Telescope. It was sent (send: ارسال داشتن) into space (کیهان) in 2009. It travels (travel: سفر کردن) in space taking pictures.
Kepler saw 1,327 more things that maybe are
planets too! Most (اکثر) of the planets are not like Earth. They are made of gas (گاز) or ice (یخ). People and animals cannot live there.
Nine of the new planets Kepler found (find: یافتن) are planets with rocks (سنگ) and mountains (کوه) like Earth. On these planets life is possible (ممکن). These planets are not too hot or too cold. Scientists think that maybe all nine planets have water. All living things need (نیاز داشتن) water.
There may be billions (بیلیون) of planets in space like
ours! Scientists think there are many planets like Earth. They say that is good. It means life is possible (ممکن) on many planets. We may not be alone in the universe (جهان).
