Would you like ( دوست داری ) to go to the moon? The moon is 402,000 kilometers from earth. The last person ( آخرین شخص ) to walk on the moon was Astronaut ( فضانورد ) Gene Cernan. He walked on the moon in 1972. The computer on the spaceship [سفینه فضایی] had less [کمتر] power [قدرت پردازش] than a mobile phone today!
Astronaut Cernan lived on the moon 3 days. He collected [جمع آوری شده] rocks and dust [غبار]. He walked 36 kilometers. At night, he lived in his “moon home” called the Lunar Lander. You can see the Lunar Lander in the photo at the left. The moon car he rode in [ride: سوار شدن] was called the Lunar Rover.
Astronaut Cernan remembers [یاد آوردن] how beautiful earth looked from the moon. But his daughter remembers something else ( یک چیز دیگر )! Her father promised [قول دادن] to write her initials [پاراف] on the moon! He wrote TDC on the moon: Teresa Dawn Cernan. Dawn, in English, means when the sun comes up. [سپیده دم]
After Astronaut Cernan wrote his daughter's initials [پاراف] on the moon it was time to go home. He said he was sad to leave ( ترك كردن ). He did not want to go home so soon ( خیلی زود ). He wanted to stay [ماندن] a little longer.
Teresa was 9 years old when her father wrote her initials on the moon. They will be there millions [میلیون] of years! Someday, will someone else go to the moon and find [یافتن] them? What do you think?
