The paper airplane contest

One day a science teacher named Mr. Naan, wanted to have a paper airplane contest (مسابقه) at school!
First, every student would make a paper airplane. Then they would stand in a line outside. Each student would throw (پرت كردن) his or her airplane. The student whose airplane went the farthest (دورترین) would win (پیروزی). When Mr. Naan told the students about the paper airplane contest they were very happy.
One student named Nazir said, “I am the strongest (قوی ترین) student at school! I will win because I will be able to throw my airplane the farthest.”
Another student, Fariha, loved airplanes and really wanted to win the contest. She went to the store and bought (buy: خریدن) some paper. She went home and took the paper into her backyard (حیاط خلوت). She took a piece of paper and folded (تا کردن) an airplane. It didn’t go very far, so Fariha took one more piece of paper and folded another [one more] airplane. This airplane went a little farther. Fariha folded many different kinds of airplanes and threw (throw: پرت كردن) them. Some went very far and some did not. When Fariha used (استعمال کردن) all the paper, she found the plane that flew the farthest and picked it up.
The next day was the contest. All the students stood in a line. Each student took a turn. The last students to throw their airplanes were Nazir and Fariha. Nazir went first. Nazir was very strong and so, when he threw his airplane into the sky, it went farther than every other airplane. Everyone clapped (کف زدن).
Then it was Fariha’s turn. Fariha took her best airplane that she picked up the day before. She walked up to the line and, with all her strength, threw the plane. It went flying, flying, flying until finally it landed — past Nazir’s plane! The whole school cheered (تشویق کردن). Fariha was the winner.
Fariha won because she tried many ways to make an airplane fly far. She tried many different designs (طرح) and compared (مقايسه كردن) the results. When she found the design that worked best, she used it and she won!
